With the ever growing partnership between the club and Mount Kelly we have now created a schools and hockey development programme with the main aim of developing local talent and also promoting the sport to a wider community. The pilot programme ran by MK saw three different local primary schools take advantage of a two week coaching block which gave all participants an introduction to the game. This was then followed by a festival which had up to 60 children involved.

Not only is the programme driven towards participation and general awareness but is also focussed on giving primary school teachers a greater understanding of how to coach the sport within their own schools. Resources and further staff participation is planned for the next block of primary coaching planned for the autum term.
