Chair's Statement
Chair's Statement
Welcome to all and I hope you are looking forward to the start of the new season (fingers crossed).
Every season all clubs face different challenges but this year all have the unfortunate situation of Covid-19. Please can I assure you that behind the scenes the club are following ALL guidelines and advice being issued by England Hockey and will continue to do so to ensure the safety of our members and their families. Please could you all ensure you review and complete the England Hockey participation agreement.
With Covid-19 in mind, can I remind you that there will be no changing facilities or after match teas until further notice. Any updates will be sent out to members via the club email system and posted on the website as appropriate.
The club Covid-19 officer is Thomas Honey and if anyone has any questions or concerns can I ask you make contact with Thomas.
The past season was a challenging one for the men’s senior teams and after careful consideration we decided to reduce the number of teams to 1 and to rebuild the men’s teams from the lower league to ensure continued participation and enjoyment of the players representing that team.
We have also recognised that there are some great male players developing within the junior teams and we are looking to field a development/social side which will play friendlies against other local clubs without the stresses of competing in the league. We will need parental and adult support for this team and would love to hear from anyone wishing to work behind the scenes to support our developing younger players and those older players winding down too.
I am pleased to say that we will continue with our amazing junior teams with the continued support from those volunteers who are already supporting the club as they have done in previous years. Our junior section is thriving and teams continue to perform well in the Plymouth Leagues.
Along side the players, we are looking to develop our volunteers with supported umpiring courses and coaching courses, the whole club is on a path to rebuild and although I already know it will be a great success it will be so much easier if we all work together on and off the pitch to achieve our goals.
Thank you to everyone who has stepped up and taken on roles this season, we couldn’t do it without you.
Please can I also remind everyone that the club follows England Hockey Code of Ethics & Behaviour. http://www.englandhockey.co.uk/page.asp?section=2482§ionTitle=Code+Of+Ethics+%26+Behaviour Club Welfare Officer is Ralph Rizk.
I am extremely proud that Tavistock Hockey Club has always been a family friendly club, focussed on developing all both on the pitch and off, at a pace to suit, in a supportive, friendly environment.
Can I also add that the club is open to all, its inclusive ethos relates to players, volunteers, officials and supporters!
I am positive that working together will produce great results for the club during the coming season, and I hope you all have fun.
