Ladies 1st Team: PMHC 1-4 Tavistock Player of the Match Laura Armstrong

Tavistock started the game with a bang after midfielder Nevin made a great run past the Marjon defence to set Armstrong up on her reverse which took the ladies into the lead within 2 minutes of the starting whistle. Tavistock continued to look dangerous from some great work from forward line Lamb, Donelly and Gaspar and it didn't take them
Long to make it 2-0 after Scott put away a Strong slap past the marjons keeper from a Reds short corner. Marjon stepped up there game and were causing problems in the Tavistock D, which saw Colston saving off line. Shortly after the home side took up a 2nd opportunity and just beat keeper Mills-Hicks to bring the score line to 2-1. The second half Started quickly once again for the Reds with Lamb causing problems for the Marjons defence with a great run along the base line, Slipped it back to Gaspar who smashed it passed the keeper. The home side
Kept battling but just couldn't get through the defensive line with some strong work from Pollock, Kelly and Boulle. Shortly after Tavistock gave their last push and sealed the game with a fine finish from Nevin to finish the game at 4-1.

Men's 1st Team: OPM'S 1-3 Tavistock

Tavistock made the short trip to Plymouth to take on OPM'S and were expecting a tougher game than the league table would suggest and the home side did not disappoint. Despite running out 3-1 winners the Reds had it far from there own way, although monopolising the early attempts on goal Tavistock were unable to take the lead due to some fine goal keeping from Steve Payne.  Both sides looked solid in defence and dangerous in attack without being able to score a goal, mid way through the first Tavistock did score when Sam Willetts cleverly deflected in a typically well worked penalty corner, soon after the lead was doubled again from a penalty corner but this time it was Megicks who showed the composure in front of goal to slap the ball past Payne.  The home side halved the deficit early in the second half following a quick and incisive counter attack leaving Matt Grahame helpless in the Tavistock goal. The experience of Fenwick and Honey playing together in midfield allowed Tavistock to get hold of the game once again and allow the attacking threat of Forshaw, Stanbury, Carr Megicks and Willetts to attack in large numbers. Johnny Elliott capped a fine performance when he picked out Forhsaw on the edge of the D, the Tavi forward worked the ball on to his reverse stick before firing an unstoppable shot through a crowded D and last Payne.

Men's 1st Team: Devon Trophy: Tavistock 8-0 PGSOB A MoM Sam Willetts

The home side were expected to win this cup tie but were not helped when they had to play the first 30 minutes with just 10 players.  Despite the inferior numbers the home side maintained a high tempo game in both attack and defence and went in 3-0 up at the break with goals coming from Forshaw, Willetts and B. Carr. Tavistock were boosted by the arrival of Ben Hancox making his debut for the first team, his hard work in attack helped the team to score a further five goals in the second half. Forshaw doubled his tally for the game while fellow Summer signing Sam Willetts scored four taking his tally for the game to five.  The home side had a new look back line with Alex Shephard stepping in to play along side regulars Rory Carr and the ever dependable Sam Stanbury. Tavistock now face PMHC in the next round which is who they face in the league in two weeks time.

Men's 2nd Team: East Devon 1-2 Tavistock

East Devon C  1   Tavistock A   2

Tavistock had to reshuffle the squad due to some missing players, but brought an energised squad to play a new opposition.

Tavistock started quickly and immediately put the home defence under pressure, with Walker, Donnelly and Hancox causing all sorts of problems. The home side were struggling to contend with the speed of the visiting attack.

Tavistock were creating many chances in front of goal but were missing that final touch which would give them the lead they deserved.

Anning was pulling the strings from the midfield and with the support of Berry, Tavistock were dangerous moving forward.

East Devon did have their chances but the back line of Gott, Honey and Tosdevin were covering most dangers and the commanding Pugsley was not giving anything away.

Tavistock took the deserved lead when Berry deftly flicked the ball into the net following a good short corner routine.

The game was Tavistock’s for the taking and the single goal lead did not reflect the game, but then the lively Walker pressed home the advantage with a determined goal.

After a few changes on the pitch, some cohesion was lost and the home side applied a lot of pressure in the hope of getting some points. Pugsley was solid and saved some dangerous attacks, Venton hunted the opposition like a man possessed.

A deserved win, following a late short corner strike from East Devon did not take the glory away from Tavistock and the deserved three points.

Next Saturday is a top table clash against Teign.
