Men's 1's East Devon 2-4 Tavistock: B Megicks, S Willetts, O Richards, M Forshaw MoM S Stanbury

This away win was hard fought and could prove to be an important victory as the season progresses, the hosts pushed Tavistock more than any other side in recent games. East Devon took the lead inside the first two minutes having enjoyed the majority of the early possession and territory, a patient build up was finished from close range to open the scoring. Tavistock did not panic but did take a while to play themselves into the game, it was far from their normally dominant performance but this was entirely down to East Devon who pressed quickly and attacked with a purpose. Tavistock created a couple of half chances before they equalised, the goal coming from Megicks who followed up well from a penalty corner. Both sides looked solid in defence and looked to break quickly, it was the visitors who score the next goal when Sam Willetts deflected the ball confidently passed the keeper following the original shot from in form striker Mark Forshaw. From this point both sides continued to attack with the hosts forcing the Reds to surrender possession more than in any other game this season. Tavistock scored a third when skipper Tom Honey fired the ball into the D towards Ollie Richards who with his back to goal cleverly deflected the ball past the advancing keeper. Despite finding themselves two goals behind East Devon continued to look dangerous but were caught with quick counter attacks which Tavistock were unable to convert, the failure convert could have been costly when with just under 15 minutes remaining East Devon scored from a penalty corner. Tavistock regained their two goal lead when Honey found Fenwick who's pass into the D was delicately touched up and over the keeper, the finish from Forshaw could be an early contender for goal of the season. There was no time for the hosts to even restart the game before the final whistle went. Based on the performance today East Devon will certainly look to climb the table while Tavistock will look to maintain their 100% start to the season.
