Ladies 1st Team: Tavistock 1-2 Caradon (G Donnelly)
After a great away win to Penzance last week Tavistock were looking to get another 3 points behind them, knowing that it was always going to be a tough match against Caradon.
The game started quickly with Caradon placing immediate pressure on the Tavistock backline of Boulle, Pollock, Mills-Hicks and Wood, all working hard to keep the opposition clear.
With some dangerous runs up front from Lamb, Tavistock were looking a threat in the Caradon D, with a great ball through to Donnelly who just narrowly missed the target for Tavistocks first scoring opportunity.
With no score at half time there was all to play for, the Caradon ladies came out strong and one the first short corner of the half. A strong shot at goal saw the glove of Viggars, a 2nd rebound saw Boulle putting her body on the line to keep the ball out but was unfortunate to be beating by the 3rd and Caradon opened up the score board.
Midfield trio of Scott, Payne and Bassett were working hard and maintained the intensity that the home side needed in order to try and get back into the game.
Caradon were awarded another short corner and with a well drilled routine put the 2nd goal into the Tavistock net.
Tavistock kept determined and put the leg work in, with some beautiful linking from the midfield to forward Lamb and took it past the Caradon defence and across to Lindsay who slipt it to Donnelly on the post who slipped it past the keeper.
With little time remaining Tavistock kept applying the pressure but were unfortunate to not get another before the final whistle.
Men's 1st Team: Tavistock 3-1 Duchy (B Megicks, S Fenwick, M Forshaw)
This certainly turned out to be the tough test Tavistock were expecting but despite being put under more pressure than normal the Reds were still able to maintain their 100% start to the season. Tavistock got off to the best possible start when they took the lead inside 10 minutes, following some good link up play between Fenwick and Honey it was Megicks who was able to deflect a reverse stick effort from Fenwick past the Duchy keeper. Continued pressure led to the home side winning a number of penalty corners, when Forshaws goal bound effort struck a foot on the line the umpire was left with no choice but to award a penalty stroke which was converted by Fenwick for his 5th goal of the season. Shortly before half time Duchy had a goal disallowed from a penalty corner as the initial strike had gone above the back board before hitting defender Paul Machants stick and going into the goal. The second half saw the visitors come determined to score and get back into the game following a first half that saw Tavistock have the majority of possession and look the sharper in front of goal. Duchy did score a deserved goal following a quick counter attack down the left, when the ball was struck into th D its was a Duchy forward who reacted quickest to deflect the ball high into the net past Matt Grahame. Following a green card for Marchant and a yellow card for Wood in the first half Tavistock frontman Fenwick also received a yellow card mid way through the second half which piled the pressure on the home side but the experience of Honey in the midfield help to weather the storm and ensure that the score remaimed at 2-1. Having just returned to full strength and with just less than 10 minutes remaining Megicks was yellow carded so yet again Tavistock were down to 10 men, despite the numerical disadvantage Honey, Femwick and Stanbury linked well on the right to open up the Duchy defence, Stambury's ball across the D found Forshaw unmarked to claim his 5th goal of the season and seal the victory for Tavistock.
