Ladies 1st Team: Tavistock 3-0 Caradon

Both teams went into this game having secured 3 points from their opening two matches and results in the recent seasons would suggest this was going to be a close game.  Tavistock started at a high tempo and looked to capatalise on the early possession and territorial advanatge they were enjoying and the goal came from forward Jo Gaspar, Gaspar found herself in a great position at the back post and was able to slap the ball home following some fine atacking play in the D from the Tavistock forwards. The Reds had a a few chances to double the lead, Fenwick coming closest with a backhand effort that the kepper was able to kick away.  The backline of Scott, Mills-Hicks, Pollock and Wood were linking well with centre half Amy Headon, the composure and distributon from the Tavistock back line was the start point for many of their attacks, the second goal came from another signing Elle Compton.  The goal was timed perfectly as it followed a Caradon effort that had hit the post and as the visitors were starting to get themselves into the game, Compton was able to pick the ball up with ther back to goal and on the turn slide the ball past the advancing keeper.  The second half saw a similar pattern to the first with the home enjoying the greater possession and looking the more likely to score, Pollock and Lamb snr combined well at a penalty corner but were just unable to convert the chance, Compton scored her second goal of the game with a backkhand effort that made its way through a crowd of players and with just 15 minutes reamaining effectivly seal the win for Tavistock.  Player of the Match Erin Shillaw was running the game late on in the second half, her speed on the ball was causing problems for the away side but unfortunately the Reds could not add to their goal tally. Next week sees Tavistock make the short trip to Okehampton for the West Devon derby following Oke's promotion last season back in the the South league.

Mens 1st Team: Tavistock 6-0 Yeovil

Tavistock played host to Yeovil in their first home game of the season and it was expected to be a big test for the Reds following their back to back promotions, Yeovil had finished 4th last season so the game would be a real indicator for progression Tavistock have been making.  The away side were the best opposition the Reds have faced before but thanks to clinical execution in front of goal the home side ran out 6-0 winners.  The home side raced into an early 2-0 lead thanks to a quick fire double from Mark Forshaw, the second goal found Forshaw in on goal following a 40 metre overhead from Fenwick, as the keeper closed down Forshaw he showed the composure and ability to flick the ball over the keeper and into the net to double thehome sides lead.  Forshaw and Fenwick then switched roles as the latter was able to convert from close range following a clever pass from Forshaw.  Yeovil came out at the start half looking determined to get an early goal back but a defensive mistake led to Forshaw being given the ball at the top of the D and he didnt waste anytime in smashing the ball past the keeper to complete his hat trick, not done ther ehe then claimed his fourth of the game after another high through ball from Fenwick.  Bob Carr capped aother impressive performance when he claimed the sixth goal of the game, the Reds looked extremly solid in defence with Summer signings Chevin and Jeffrey slotting in well with the established Marchant and Willetts, the home side also recieved a mid week boost when Ollie Richards was passed fit to rejoin the squad and add the midfield of Honey, Blonden and Stanbury.  Tavistock sit second in the table on goal difference as the prepare for next weeks away gae against PGSOB's.

Plymouth Uni B. 3. Tavistock A 9

This was a fantastic team performance by Tavistock A.

Having had a great result against Plymouth last week, Tavistock wanted to take the performance up to a greater level.

Having received detailed instructions from the Head Coach, the 2's played with great structure and intensity.

From the back, with Grahame in goal, he marshalled his defence and this confidence rippled through the team.

The speed, passing and determination were a credit to the Tavistock side, who managed a good Uni side with little concerns.

Captain Olman led from the front and scored some dynamic goals. Pressure from the midfield and forwards with the press, created errors from the students, who relinquished possession at crucial times and conceded goals as a result.

With too many goals to mention, the work rate and and creativity were a credit. Carr at the back, was strong as always and some of his pin point passes, turned the screw constantly on the Uni, when the Tavi defence was under pressure.

This is early days in the season, but the Tavistock A's can take the first two results as significant stepping stones to a positive season.
