Mens 1st Team: Tavistock 7-0 Dart

Tavistock put in another impressive performance to win 7-0 and maintain top spot in Conference South.  The home side got off to the perfect start when Dom Stanbury opened the scoring inside 10 minutes, the Reds mifielder was the quickest to react when Forshaws penalty corner effort was initially saved by the Dart keeper.  The lead was soon doubled when Forshaw found himself unmarked at the far post to flick the ball in the goal following some clever link up play on the left bewteen Willetts and Fenwick.  Tavistock dominated possession in the first half keeping the ball for long periods of time and looking very deliberate in attack, scoring lots of goals did not appear to the main objective for the team, their patience and attacking threat was rewarded in the last two minutes of the half when Summer signing Sam Blonden fired home form a penalty corner.  Mark Forshaw doubled his goal tally for the game from the penalty spot early in the second half after the body of a Dart defender prevented the ball crossing the line after a Fenwick flick from yet another penalty corner, soon after Forshaw cleverly played in Fenwick who had a clear run in on goal and looked like he would score the fifth of the game for the home side but as the defence made the effort to close him down it left space for the Reds skipper Tom Honey to exploit - Fenwick passed the ball inside and Honey made no mistake as he flicked the ball high to keepers left hand side and into the roof of the net.  Tavistock had a number of other chances many of which came thanks to the fantastic attacking play from right back Andy Berry, the Reds defender was one of the biggest attacking threats in the game as they were quick to adapt to three at the back to enhance their attacking options.  Two further goals followed late on, Stanbury and Carr both deflecting in well executed penalty corners. The win sees Tavistock keep top spot ahead of Exeter University on goal difference with just two games left before the Christams break.

Ladies 1s: Torbay 1 - 1 Tavistock

With a full squad back together the Tavistock ladies were hoping to get back to their winning ways, travelling away to Torbay who sat below them in the league table. The ladies started well and immediately piled the pressure onto the home sides D, following some smooth linking play from the back line through midfield and into the threat of the forward line the reds were unfortunate not to convert. With the chances flowing it didn't take too much longer for Tavistock to pounce and some great ball skills from Lamb junior through to Nevin, who laid it perfectly for Fenwick to smash home and take the lead. Tavistock held the 1-0 lead at half time and went into the second half with determination to hold onto that. Torbay came back strong and proved slightly more of a threat to the Tavistock defence, and it didn't take long to take advance of a loose ball in the D and bring the score to 1-1. Tavistock kept positive but after a few unfortunate blows lost defenders Pollock and captain Scott to yellow cards, the reds adapted well to having only 9 players and played some impressive hockey across the field and showed great composure as a squad. With only minutes remaining Tavistock were back to 11 players and were fighting for all, with several short corners and goal scoring opportunities the ladies were so unfortunate not to convert. Despite some great hockey and true determination Tavistock were unfortunate to come away with a draw from what they can only describe as a physical game.
