Ladies 1st Team: Tavistock 3-0 Caradon Player of the Match Robynne Fenwick
Tavistock moved to the top of the South Division with this home victory over local rivals Caradon although the game was not as easy as the score line may suggest, the away side certainly performing better than their league position would have predicted. Despite their superior possession of the ball the home side were unable convert this into a goal despite the visitors playing the first 10 minutes without a goalkeeper. Caradon got numbers behind the ball and looked to hit Tavistock on the break but stand in keeper Elz Mills-Hicks was only called into action once in the Reds goal. With the game level at half time the home side knew they had to increase the pressure on the opposition and convert their possession into goals. The breakthrough came when Sarah Law picked up the ball wide on the right before cutting infield and looping a reverse stick effort across goal above and beyond the reach of the keeper. Having missed the last 2 games through injury, centre half Robynne Fenwick scored the second goal with a low reverse stick shot the keeper was unable to deal with. Forward Becky Lamb finished off a fine passing move to score the final goal of the match, the 3-0 win puts Tavistock top of the league on goal difference.
Mens 1st Team: Tavistock 12-0 Truro B MoM Tom Honey
A superb display from the home side saw them win comfortably against Truro and stay at the top of the league, the Reds are 3 points clear and after 7 games have a goal difference of plus 37. It didn't take long for the home side to take the lead, the goal came from Ollie Richards who was back in the front line following a number of games in midfield. Tavistock dominated the possession and territory in the first half and went in 7-0 up at half time with the goals coming from 7 different players, Richards, Honey, Fenwick, Berry, D Stanbury, Jones and Megicks. The second half continued in much the same way as the first with the home side dominating territory, possession and shots on goal, Fenwick, Berry, Megicks, Jones and Richards all doubled their indivual tally for the match resulting in the final 12-0 score line.
Ladies 2nd Team: Tavistock 14 - 0 Plymouth Uni
This was another exciting match for the Ladies 2nd team with a win over Plymouth Uni. There were some changes to the lineup from the last two matches, with some new players making their Tavistock debuts, and they slotted into the squad well. The defence worked hard, not allowing the opposition into the D or giving them any opportunities to score. This meant that it was a superb attacking game, with the midfields working to push the ball up the pitch and provide the forwards with scoring chances. Sarah Harris and Nicky Wood scored one each, while Alice Donne managed two. However, Judy Lowton managed to score the other ten goals with an excellent performance throughout the game!
Well done to all!
Men's 2nd Team: PGSOB B 10 - 0 Tavistock A
This was not the best day at the office, following a strong performance the week before. The home side was very strong and Tavistock were missing up to six of the key players for this game. 3 nil down at halftime and Tavistock were in fact playing some positive hockey with good link play from Gott, through to the midfield of Hanson, Honey, Pugsley and Anning. Bringing Elliott into the game up front, Tavistock were putting pressure onto the home side, but we always seemsd to be a man short. New boys Crossley and Monger continued to work hard, as did the defence of Mason and Glanville, but Osborne in goal was left exposed through the constant attacks.
