Ladies 1st team: Tavistock 0-2 White Eagles
Tavistock went into their first home game of the league season expecting a tough game against White Eagles, the visitors were much improved from last season and called Tavistock keeper Zoe Viggers into action early on. The first half proved to be quite a scrappy encounter with both teams defending well and failing to create any clear cut chances in front of goal. As the game progressed Tavistock started to look more of an attacking threat but were caught on the break by a diect White Eagles side, player of the match Zoe Viggers making a number of fine saves to keep the game tied at 0-0. With less than 5 minutes to go White Eagles scrambled the ball over the line following a penalty corner. With little time left Tavistock moved to 3 at the back and played with an additional attacker in an attempt to salvage a point, the visitors hit Tavistock on the break and scored a second goal with seconds remaining.
Men's 1st team: Tavistock 4-1 Plymouth University
Tavistock picked up where they left off last week with some fine attacking play and almost took the lead through a fine solo effort from Baranby Sargent-Megicks. All the pressure finally led to Tavistock taking the lead when forward Si Fenwick lifted the ball over the keeper and defenders from a tight angle. Just before the break Tavistock finally converted a penalty corner with a well worked routine which was converted by Fenwick for his second of the match. Alex Shepard scored his first goal of the season with a reverse stick shot over the Uni keeper mid way through the second half. Ollie Richards capped another fine performance scoring Tavistocks 4th goal slotting the ball past the Uni keeper following a pass from Fenwick. Plymouth Uni scored a consolation goal in the final minutes of the game with a well taken reverse stick shot.
Men's 2nd team: Plymouth Uni 5-1 Tavistock
It is hard to gauge this from the score line, but Tavistock put in a much improved performance in this game. Still working on the new structure and with some new young players, Tavistock doggedly stuck to the task. After the early pressure, it came down to some individual errors that let the University score and this seemed to send Tavistock into a panic, where the home side continued to pressure and force more of the same. Once Tavistock were 4 – 0 down they seemed to realise how they can play and with the formation working and some good network passing Tavistock started to apply pressure of their own. After the break, Tavistock were well in the game and after long periods of pressure, captain Anning scored an excellent goal, with a flick past the diving keeper. Tavistock continued to pressure and could have added to the score line, but missed some superb chances, to close the gap. Great performances from Josh Walker and Harry Donnelly added a real pace to the Tavistock side and thenwelcome return of John Elliott can only bode well. The Uni scored their last goal in a breakaway move.
