Tavistock Men travelled down to sunny Penzance today and got back to winning ways. Ravaged by injuries and unavailability the team missing up to 8 players, had no subs and played a new 3 4 3 system. Jonny Elliot opened the scoring with a well worked goal and Josh Walker doubled the visiting teams score when he fired hard and low in the bottom corner. Chances for both teams were few and far between but it was Penzance who scored next from a well worked short corner. Half time whistle was blown with Tavistock leading 2-1. A stern half time talk from some senior players really seemed to work in the second half. The tempo increased and a lot more turnover ball was won. Dee Kirwin badly twisted his knee and as he could not continue the team were down to 10 for 30mins of the second half. Andy Berry scored Tavistocks third to give his team a healthy two goal lead. Josh Walker soon added Tavistocks fourth which effectively ended the comeback for Penzance and at times some great defending from Louis Squire thwarted any chance of a goal for the home team. Another goal for Andy Berry from a short corner was followed by a tap in from Nick Andrews after a good run by Walker. Tavistock continued to search for more goals but it was not to be. The final score being Penzance 1, Tavistock 6. It was a great effort from everyone and its always good to play well soon after a long journey. They will enjoy the comfort of a home fixture next week against Devonport Service. Man of the match award was shared between Josh Walker and Andy Berry and Donkey of the day went to Dee Kirwin.
