Ladies 2nd XI Vs Kingsbridge

A tense atmosphere on the pitch this morning as Tavistock Ladies 2nd’s saw them at home to Kingsbridge, these teams are first and second in the league and both remain unbeaten.

Kingsbridge had first push back and the top of the table clash began with attacking play from both teams.  Kingsbridge seem to have the upper hand early on however Tavistock remained strong and with dominating play from the mid field and defence any chances from Kingsbridge for a goal were soon dealt with.  With high intensity hockey from Tavistock they were soon pushing forward.  A fantastic run from Annalise and a tap into the goal by Jamie, Tavistock scored the first goal of the match.  However there was no room for complacency as Kingsbridge did not let the goal stop them and they went on the attack.  Only some fantastic saves by player of the match goalie Lois Thornton kept the score going into the break at 1 nil Tavistock .  The second half continued like the first with both teams giving 100%, a break by Sophie Russell on goal with a helping hand from Izzy Davis, Tavistock were two up.  Kingsbridge seemed to rally and after numerous attempts on goal their efforts were rewarded. Score 2-1.  This  was a highly physical and intense game and at times was more like a tennis match with the ball going from one end of the pitch to the other.  A last ditch attempt by Kingsbridge saw them get past the goalie and they had the equaliser.  An exhausting game for both teams however from a supporters perspective the best of the season so far.  Tavistock Ladies should be very proud of themselves.
