Match Report |
With pre-season greatly affected by the late completion of the new pitch ( i.e. the day before the season curtain raiser!!), this was the first time the team had come together. As predicted it was to prove a tough fixture for a relatively young side. Despite the loss there were some promising performances and some examples of good counter attacking hockey. Caradon started strongly, moving the ball quickly and created numerous chances. They were frustrated by some good defensive work and Tavistock took the lead with a fine counter attack. Caradon continued to press and this pressure eventually told as they equalised when given too much space inside the 'D'. The second half saw Caradon press higher up the pitch, forcing several 'turn overs' in dangerous positions which ultimately resulted in Caradon easing to victory. The lack of pre season training was clearly the difference between the two sides as Caradon showed better structure and moved the ball quicker. Despite this defeat the signs are good for the remainder of the season and the structure and movement will improve as the team gels. Onwards and upwards.
