Match Report |
Tavistock bounced back from their defeat last week and gained a hard fought point against a strong and experinced Teign side despite twice taking the lead. After a very even opening 15 minutes it was the home side who took the lead when Mark Forshaw flicked high to the keepers right from a peanlty corner following good individual skills from both Willetts and Stanbury on the left hand side. The visitors where level within five minutes, after being awarded a free hit it was the Teign player who reacted fastest and restarted the game immediately which denied the reds defence the oportunity to set and a smart interchange of passes allowed Teign to level when the ball was hit past Bond. Moments before half time Teign had the chance to take the lead following another overhead from their centre back found a forward who took the ball into the D one on one with Bond, the Tavi keeper was off his line in a shot and was able to make a an impressive save before more good work from Chevin and Jeffery cleared the danger. The second half followed much the same pattern as the first half. Tavistock once again took the lead and it was from another penalty corner, it was the quick thinking of skipper Tom Honey that allowed him to take on a shot at goal himself, the shot beating keeper and the left postman. The visitors hit back again with a well taken shot in a congested D, as the clock ticked down it was the home side who looked more likely to score but they were unable to grab and goal and take all 3 points. With rivals Exeter Uni and Marjons both losing Tavistock sit in 4th place only seperated from 2nd and 3rd place on goal difference. Next the Tavistock travel to Shepton Mallett before hosting Marjons in their next home game in two weeks time.
