Match Report

Tavistock travelled to Bodmin for their second game of the weekend and again the game plan was simple, win and they would be crowned league champions  for successive seasons. Tavistock took control from the outset and raced into a 2-0 lead, both goals coming from the reverse stick of Si Fenwick with right back Rory Carr claiming the assists for both goals. Tavistock played a disciplined game, maintaining possession and looking to create good scoring opportunities. Regular forward Sam Willettts stepped in a left back and was proving to be a an attacking threat from deep, centre backs Stanbury and Berry were  dealing with all Bodmin threats and were looking assured on the ball.  Carr claimed his third assist of the game when he unselfishly set up his brother Bob to make it 3-0, Carr deserved his goal after the post denied him from scoring fine solo goal earlier on in the game.  Bodmin scored a penalty corner in the second half to pull one goal back which did not take away from the very impressive performance of Emlym Oxenham in goal, the 13 year old made his debut on Saturday against OPM's and showed confidence far beyond his years in both games over the weekend.  Barny Megicks scored the fourth goal for Tavistock with a clever reverse stick finish.  The win secured the league title for Tavistiock who still have four games to play, the Reds will look to keep their winning form going with the new objective of trying to all 22 league games this season. Player coach Si Fenwick was extremely happy to have secured the league title but said " I am sure with the effort and commitment the lads have shown this season they are all desperate to keep going and remain unbeaten".
