Match Report

Tavistock met Torbay this weekend for their last home game of the season, with a couple players missing it saw the Reds try out a new formation against what seemed to be a slightly lighter Torbay side than earlier in the season. The game started at a some what slower pace than the last 2 weeks, but the home side took control on early on and took a 1-0 lead from a well taken goal from Gaspar. This was then soon followed up by goals from Shillaw, Lamb and another from Gaspar. All well worked team goals. In the last 5 minutes of the first half Torbay started pressing the Reds defence and managed to make a break and slotted a clean shot away past Tavistock's Viggers to close the second half at 4-1.
Tavistock were determined to step up the quality in the second half and start showing the recent class and composure that they've shown in previous weeks, with the away side also stepping up the pace in the second half. Torbay quickly started to pile on the pressure but this was nothing a strong Tavistock backline couldn't deal with, and player of the match Boulle really showed her strength and saw the ball clear. The home side won a short corner that was slipped to captain Scott on the left who calmly slipped this past the Torbay keeper. With Tavistock lifted once again this saw an opportunity for Shillaw to show off her pace, when she won the ball in the home sides half and ran the length of the pitch to seal the win for the ladies and take the score to 6-1.
