Match Report |
Having drawn 3-3 in their prior meet against Exeter, the team travelled to The university side to see if they could come away with a win. The game had a slow start with the Uni holding a half court press, throwing the away side off their normal shape. However the game quickly gained momentum and Exeter created several chances at goal with a narrow miss off the left post. This gave Tavistock ladies the wake up call they needed and soon the pressure was applied on the oppositions defence with Lamb, Donnelly and Shillaw working hard in the forward
Line. Another break by Exeter allowed them to win a penalty corner, a slick routine put the home in the lead.
Tavistock regrouped at half time and upped their intensity in the second half with the hardworking Nevin creating many chances through the midfield.
It didn't take long for Tavistock to get their scoring opportunity when Armstrong converted a difficult strike on goal, from a wide angle on the left of the D; bringing the score to 1-1. The remainder of the game was a balance between attack and defence for both sides, leaving the final score as a draw.
