Match Report | Ladies 1st Team: Tavistock 1-2 Caradon (G Donnelly) After a great away win to Penzance last week Tavistock were looking to get another 3 points behind them, knowing that it was always going to be a tough match against Caradon. The game started quickly with Caradon placing immediate pressure on the Tavistock backline of Boulle, Pollock, Mills-Hicks and Wood, all working hard to keep the opposition clear. With some dangerous runs up front from Lamb, Tavistock were looking a threat in the Caradon D, with a great ball through to Donnelly who just narrowly missed the target for Tavistocks first scoring opportunity. With no score at half time there was all to play for, the Caradon ladies came out strong and one the first short corner of the half. A strong shot at goal saw the glove of Viggars, a 2nd rebound saw Boulle putting her body on the line to keep the ball out but was unfortunate to be beating by the 3rd and Caradon opened up the score board. Midfield trio of Scott, Payne and Bassett were working hard and maintained the intensity that the home side needed in order to try and get back into the game. Caradon were awarded another short corner and with a well drilled routine put the 2nd goal into the Tavistock net. Tavistock kept determined and put the leg work in, with some beautiful linking from the midfield to forward Lamb and took it past the Caradon defence and across to Lindsay who slipt it to Donnelly on the post who slipped it past the keeper. With little time remaining Tavistock kept applying the pressure but were unfortunate to not get another before the final whistle. |
