Match Report |
This was another important step towards promotion for Tavi A. Following the last couple of weeks performances, everything had been building towards the return fixture against Torbay, who were only one point behind.
The A team had trained hard for the match under the guidance of Club Coach Fenwick and the performance showed.
Weathering a great deal of early pressure, the formation stuck firm and began to frustrate the visitors.
A break out of the home side D saw the ball moved to Forshaw, who fed a superb pass to Orman who slotted the first home.
This rattled Torbay, who lost their composure and gave Forshaw too much space on his reverse and he hammered in the second.
Torbay regained their structure and continued to attack via some of their skillful players and found themselves back in the game via some fortunate deflections.
The game was hotly contested with Torbay enjoying the majority of the possession, but were unable to break down the dogmatic defence of Anning, Stanyer, MacDougal and Hanson. With Pugsley standing strong in goal, they defended numerous short corners and cleared via the secure defence of Gott.
Tavi yet again broke out and played some magnificent hockey through the midfield of Hancox, Honey and Venton, which created the goal of the game, when Walker powered in the home sides third.
Tavi new it was tough to keep the effort at maximum levels and with some lack of concentration, Torbay found a free man who had time to beat Pugsley.
The home side were not deflated, and new they were only minutes away, when Orman scored the fourth and final goal following a great pass through from Campbell.
A great win and a great performance from Tavistock has left them top of the table with only two league games to go.
