Match Report

Torbay A 1  Tavistock A  2

This was always going to be a tough game, with both teams at the top of the division.

It was an attacking game from the start again, which does seem to be Tavistock’s trademark approach. Tavistock were controlling the game well, from the back all the way through the team.

As always Tavistock attacked at pace with Elliott, Walker and Orman, supported through the centre by Willets.

The teams were well balanced ands although Tavistock had plenty of chances which tested the home keeper, the deadlock could not be broken. Torbay were breaking and looked a skillfull side, but the new back line of Honey, Hanson, MacDougal and Venton managed to fend off any moves into the Tavi’ D.

It was towards the end of the first half that a final score was made, following numerous short corners and Willets slapped a goal into the net to give Tavistock a deserved lead.

He half finished with Torbay also having numerous shirt corners, but these were all defended well.

The tight encounter continued into the second half and early on with some Tavistock pressure mounting, a Torbay break found a loose player who fired in the equaliser.

This was the kick that Tavi’ needed and they upped their pace and control again. Wave after wave of attacks were hitting the Torbay defences and eventually a mazey run by Willets found Orman on the P spot and he hammered in the ball, which went through the backboards!

Torbay did not give up and with a masterful performance by Osborne who brought out some fine saves, Tavistock managed to maintain the lead and take all three points.
