Match Report |
Tavistock looked to bouce from the disappointment of their England Hockey Vase exit to Wootton Bassett and the plan was simple, win against OPM's and promotion would be secured. The visitors, despite being hit with injury and unavailability put in a strong performance but were not able to deal with the constant attacking threat of the Reds. The first goal was scored by skipper Tom Honey who found himself unmarked in the D before unleashing an unstoppable shot past the keeper, forward Will Jones doubled the lead when he ghosted in at the back post to finish off another incisive Reds attack. The home side scored and went in 3-0 up at half time, the third goal came from a slick penalty corner which was selected in by Sam Willetts. The second half followed a similar pattern with the home side enjoying the majority of the possession, the visitors keeper made a number of impressive saves and the main attacking threat for OPM's commg from Horton and the hard working West in midfield. Tavistock forward Si Fenwick scored twice in quick succession, his first was made easy thanks to a clever run from forward Bob Carr and the second following a fine solo run from Dave Langton. The best was certainly saved until last when goal scoring machine Mark Forshaw scored an incredible solo goal in the roof of the net from a right angle which left everyone asking "how did he do that"?
