Match Report

Tavistock made the short trip to Plymouth to take on OPM'S and were expecting a tougher game than the league table would suggest and the home side did not disappoint. Despite running out 3-1 winners the Reds had it far from there own way, although monopolising the early attempts on goal Tavistock were unable to take the lead due to some fine goal keeping from Steve Payne.  Both sides looked solid in defence and dangerous in attack without being able to score a goal, mid way through the first Tavistock did score when Sam Willetts cleverly deflected in a typically well worked penalty corner, soon after the lead was doubled again from a penalty corner but this time it was Megicks who showed the composure in front of goal to slap the ball past Payne.  The home side halved the deficit early in the second half following a quick and incisive counter attack leaving Matt Grahame helpless in the Tavistock goal. The experience of Fenwick and Honey playing together in midfield allowed Tavistock to get hold of the game once again and allow the attacking threat of Forshaw, Stanbury, Carr Megicks and Willetts to attack in large numbers. Johnny Elliott capped a fine performance when he picked out Forhsaw on the edge of the D, the Tavi forward worked the ball on to his reverse stick before firing an unstoppable shot through a crowded D and last Payne.
