Match Report | Tavistock 1st - 11 Sidmouth & Ottery A - 0 After dominating the Southern 2 district league and winning it with 6 games to spare Tavistock men's 1st team wanted to start their new league campaign in a positive light. After starting the game with no goal keeper due to a lack of sat nav, Tavistock controlled the opening 15 minutes and quickly went 2 goals to the good with back to back penalty corner goals from player coach Simon Fenwick. This lead was soon added to with excellent movement from new signing Bob Carr to open up his goal tally for the season as well as Olly Richards with a calmly taken individual effort. Tavistock went into the half time interval 5-0 in the lead, the second half continued with the same sort of intensity and constant goal threat from Tavistock. Captain Tom Honey soon got in on the act with a fine interchange of passes between himself and Fenwick leading to a confident finish into the bottom corner. This was soon backed up with the pick of the bunch with a half volley effort from the top of the circle rifling into the top corner of the goal. Further goals came from big summer signing Sam Willetts and Men's 1st team debutant Johnny Elliott . This was an impressive result for Tavistock in a new league where they will certainly be eyeing back to back promotions. |
